WINNING!

Have to embrace Charlie Sheen's exhuberance this weekend. The NADAC show this weekend was pretty great for us.

Friday
Touch and Go only. Maggie nailed it. Shane started jumping over the white line on the contact obstacles. On the A-frame, he jumped and took a tumble. So much for the massage he got that morning. We drove home and I massaged his shoulders again. Oh well.

Saturday
I decided to give Shane another try. I asked the people behind me to stay out of the ring until I caught him. Everyone was very helpful. We only Q'd in Tunnelers. I missed a hoop in Weavers. He was awesome all day. Knocked some bars. He still runs off, but we are getting better.

I cannot even describe the stress in running Shane. I have to check the surroundings before I let him out of his crate. I have to manage him the entire way to the gate. We have to walk around to calm him down. We play Find it and Look at that. I have to talk to the gate steward and the person behind me to ask them to stay out of the ring. I have to plan an exit strategy so I can corral and catch him. It's exhausting. On the other hand, Maggie is so low maintenance. She is such a joy. It''s further validation that I did not create Shane. I'm doing my best to fix him, but it's such a slow process.

Maggie Q'd in all but two runs on Saturday. She did not shut down all day. She jumped off the A-frame and we can't do Chances yet.

Sunday
I decided to scratch Shane today. I wanted to have fun and Maggie is fun. She Q'd in everything but Chances. I walked Shane a lot and let him do the practice obstacles. I felt confident enough to do it off leash as well. First time ever.

At the end of the day, the Tunnelers ring was over and I heard them call Shane's name. I had scratched him, but they didn't have it. My friends convinced me to try as there were no other dogs around. The judge let me run and he got 1st place at 6.76 yards per second. He was awesome. the stress of the weekend just got to me and I wept. He is just so awesome. I did the same thing in Hoopers. No other dogs around. We had to restart a few tests, so he got third place (Maggie was 1st), but at the end of the run, he stopped and waited for me to get him. I was so proud.

What a fantastic weekend. Good times with friends. Maggie Q'd in 9 out of 11 runs, with four 1st places and three new titles.

Maybe I should bring a camera into the ring with me.
Shane loves to sit for a photo.

Maggie May is freakin' awesome!
