Shane is a Gamblin' Man Too!

With Shane's eye problems, we've had to start over in USDAA Performance at a lower jump height. We are still struggling with ring behavior, but I can usually count on Shane in Gamblers. I basically let him loose and follow him around until the buzzer sounds. Saturday, I managed to capture him to do the Gamble and he earned his Performance Gamblers I title. Sunday, I can't even remember what happened, but we blew it big time. I was thrilled Saturday that he knocked only one bar in Jumpers. He seemed a little slower and we just gelled. On Sunday I found out why he was slower and why he exhibited some old bad behaviors Sunday morning; he had some pretty bad sore places from a spill he took last week. The massage therapist worked out the spots. I scratched him the rest of the day.

Maggie May had a fabulous weekend. We struggled with the teeter on Friday and Saturday. She just would not move and the time ran out. I tried everything I could think of to get her to move. On Sunday, I tried to get her past the teeter, but she went on it. I decided we were going to work it out if it killed me. It took what seemed like hours, but she got it to tip and we ran off screaming out of the ring to our chicken! It was the best feeling in the world. I sure hope she remembers the celebration at the next show. We had our usual stalls on the dog walk and A-frame, but she is coming off those faster and faster each time. Our jumping is still too slow. We did manage qualifying runs in Pairs and Snooker. Very proud of my shy little girl.

The best part of the weekend happened Sunday afternoon. Even though I knew Maggie was too slow in Jumpers, I decided to wait around for the results. There we were hanging out with other people and their dogs and there was no drama. Shane and Maggie were attentive and happy, taking treats from anyone who offered. It was joyous.

Shane is all "Ya you got two blue ribbons, but I got a new title."
