You Got to Move It Move It

Another weekend spent on my quest to get Maggie to move faster in the agility ring. This time I brought Shane along to see if the companionship had an effect. Maggie seems more confident when Shane is around. I was responsible for course building at this trial so I was worried I wouldn't have enough time so spend with him, but I had to give it a try.

Friday
Our first run was PII Gamblers and she nailed it with a 1st place Q. I was so proud of her because there was a teeter in the Gamble. Next was PII Pairs and Maggie did her side perfectly, but our partner racked up too many faults for us to qualify. Lastly was PII Snooker and Maggie Q'd again with a 2nd place Q, her PK2 title, and 51 points, which meant she got three 7-point obstacles in the opening. Our competitor did the same but did it much faster. Not a bad showing. Maggie was running faster than usual and I have to attribute it to Shane being there.

Saturday
Weary from course building. Speed Jumping was first and there were many really fast dogs in our class. Maggie went over to the corner to sniff after the weaves and cost us a Q by 3 seconds. A competitor complimented us on her progress. Made my day. Jumpers was next and she was still moving. 1st place Q. The Gamble was hard and we didn't make it and finally she refused to do a Down on the Table even though she did about 20 downs at the gate while we waited for our turn.

Sunday
Standard is first and I got her to Sit on the Table. Some progress. PII Snooker was perfect. We did the entire sequence but when I went to check the results, we didn't Q. I asked to see the scribe sheet and sure enough, they had added up the score incorrectly. 1st place with a Q. I've been doing this long enough to know when something is not right. Last run of the weekend was PII Jumpers and Maggie was dragging. We were over time by 2 seconds. We are all pooped. Built the last course and headed home.

All-in-all not a bad weekend. Maggie is now in PIII Snooker, which means she made it to the Masters ring in her 2nd year of trialing. Again, the goal I had for Shane. She's just amazing. Not sure how much more USDAA I will do without a Down on the Table though. We are certainly not moving to the Master's ring quite yet. We have four AKC trials coming up before the summer break.

Wish I could get Maggie to pose for a picture
