Maggie got her final Open STD Q on Friday and we moved up to EXC A. She was so pokey in JWW on Friday and in all the classes on Saturday. I hope my use of the DAZER on our walks hasn't ruined her. She still seems so scared around big dogs and there were so many dogs at this show. Also, there were a lot of new noises with the conformation show in the other half of the barn.
Saturday night I had a long talk with myself. I wanted to give Maggie more time to adjust to dog shows. We haven't been to that many since last spring. I decided I would leave Shane at home Sunday morning and just take Maggie with me to watch some runs. I made some salmon treats to help make it all more exciting.
I wake up Sunday and cannot leave Shane home, so off we all go. At the show I ask my trainer what to do and he said to just keep trying. First run was STD. Maggie was moving a little bit better. Coming down off the Aframe, she picked up speed. Ran right by me to the table, which was the wrong obstacle, but she looked so darn happy. We did the last two jumps and she was moving. I was so thrilled! She was under course time!
JWW was last and she was moving well, but still too slow. My friends told me she looked happy out there, so we'll keep plugging away. I know what she's capable of and we'll just keep at it.
