Took Maggie to her first seminar with Katie Trachte last Saturday. I didn't think she'd make it through the day, so I brought Shane along. Maggie did pretty well. Ran off to sniff a lot. Perked up considerably when she spotted a lizard on the A-frame. She did poop out after lunch, so I switched dogs.
Shane exhibited his usual behavior. Charged other dogs on the course and lunged at dogs at rest. I was exhausted, hot, and dehydrated, so I reacted pretty badly. He was so good while we were just sitting around. He did very well on the course and it felt really good.
Monday, I took Shane to an evaluation for a Calm Dog class. Relaxation Protocol. Tried it once, but willing to give it another go. Shane was a perfect gentlemen during the evaluation, so the instructor didn't get to see his behavior. I always describe this out of control mess and he never shows it when I need him to. Just yesterday on our walk, he growled at a landscaper. Whatever.
We have determined that Shane's charging is now a habit and I need to break it. I'm going to try the vibration collar again tomorrow.
