Tea Cup agility show. Start at 6:45 am. Up at 5:00 to leave by 6:00. Trying to get enough coffee down. Get to the show. Figure out what's what. Set up the crates. Throw dogs in crates. Contact familiarization. Dogs out to pee. Shane poops. Back in the crate so I can walk the course. Ask Frank to poop Maggie while I'm walking. Run Shane in Minuet. Made it around the loop 5 times. Perfect! Grab Maggie. After the second loop of Minuet, I thought maybe I should just go to the table to get our Q, but noooo. I had to try for a third loop and halfway around, Maggie wanders off course and stops to POOP! Ten years I have been competing and this is a first for me. Eliminated for eliminating. Lovely.
The rest of the day went very well. We had a blast and it was blasted hot. The dogs were crated in an air conditioned room while we humans roasted. I think we had some other Qs but I didn't stick around to find out.
My musician husband did not get my musical reference "Tea for Two."
Two dogs at a tea cup show? Too obscure?
Two dogs at a tea cup show? Too obscure?
Update: Turns out we did quite well! Poor Maggie has to be in the same class as her big brother, so no blue for her. Maggie is one Q away from the TBAD and G1 titles. Wish now I would have gone back on Sunday.
Sunday
Up at the crack of dawn again for the UK Agility International debut. I decided to bring Maggie along and enter her for the day. The arena was air conditioned and fabulous. Our first time on Astroturf and both dogs did great. In our first run, both Maggie and Shane jumped off the teeter because we had just spent the previous day on a miniature version at the teacup show. I'll never split a weekend like this again. The next run was something called Snakes and Ladders and since all the little dogs were at the tea cup show, Shane was first on the line. I blew the game big time, but now I know. Snooker was fun and we almost had it. Shane Q'd in Jumpers, which is amazing in itself. Maggie was clean most of the day, but over time due to her sniffing and wandering about.
It was a fabulous weekend for me. Shane behaved himself and Maggie is just a joy to run. She is so happy and relaxed. I'm trying to get used to it. I smiled on the drive home Sunday and I haven't done that in quite a long time.
