Arousal

Used to be a good term.... This week I had to make a list of all the things that send Shane into a high arousal state. I'm taking high arousal to mean when Shane is spinning in circles and barking like a maniac. I've been working on cars for 3 years now and I feel good about it. He looks at me for a treat when he sees a car, but on a busy street that can get quite annoying.

• barking dogs
• dogs on the other side of a fence
• dogs in crates
• dogs in cars
• dogs in houses
• squirrels
• cats
• joggers
• cyclists
• skateboarders
• cars
• doorbell
• door knock
• opening a door to leave the house
• Frank walking around the house
• collecting trash around the house in large white bag
• getting poop bags from the pantry
• opening the breadbox
• saying any of these words: treats, walk, outside
• exiting his crate at home
• sight of agility equipment
• vacuum cleaner

No wonder I am overwhelmed.
