The List is Shrinking

My list of things to work on at shows was pretty long. Walking into the barn without freaking out. Check. Walking around the barn without freaking out. Check. Waiting to run without freaking out. Check. Taking off the leash at the start line without bolting. Check. Dog Walk contact. Check. Teeter contact. Check. Table performance. Check. Catching Shane at the Finish before he runs off. Check.

What's left? Staying at the start line while I walk away. Keeping all the bars up. We are down to two items. I cannot believe it.

We went to an AKC show at San Marcos on Sunday. I moved Shane to Novice Preferred to give him a better chance at keeping the bars up and it almost worked. We knocked the double in all three runs. JWW went well, except for the knocked bar. He had the second fastest time. Standard was a joy. He got all the contacts and sat on the table without hesitation. I was just beside myself. If he hadn't knocked that bar.... Final run of the day was FAST, which he just excels at because he can make up his own course.... and he did. Knocked the double, but still had enough points to qualify.
Except for the 5 hour wait between runs, we had a pretty good day. Shane is becoming more and more comfortable at shows. I am disappointed with his jumping but we are going to keep working on it.
