Desert Rose

Left Thursday afternoon for Phoenix to visit friends. Woody knew I was leaving because of the suitcase, so he lay on the bed with his back to me as I packed. As I left, they both stared at me. Heartbreaking.

My friends, Jennifer and Steve, rescue Greyhounds from the race track in Phoenix. Here is their first, Bonnie, who is a love.
Boomer is the new pup and is a bundle of energy. He had a toy in his mouth almost every time I saw him.
Baby is the matriarch at 16 years old. She was at Jake and Woody's 3rd birthday, many years ago.
You know you are back in Phoenix when you blow your nose and blood comes out. My allergies came back like I had never left. The cocktail in my shot doesn't cover the plants in Phoenix. When I walked off the plane in Austin and hit the humidity, my head just opened up like a flower! Glad to be home!

I got to the house at 1am Monday morning. Shane was at the door to greet me. Sniffed around. Frank staggered out, and Woody followed a few minutes later in a groggy stupor. Not the usual greeting, but it'll do.
