You CAN have too much fun

Agility is supposed to be fun right? Well, it's Monday morning and my fun bank is full. Two 12-hour days of NADAC agility is, maybe, a little more fun than I can handle.

Friday night Shane and I went to San Marcos for the Show and Go to work on our contacts. $15 and 3 hours later, we managed one dog walk contact correctly on the first attempt. Brother. Our teeter and A frame are pretty good.

Saturday, Frank and Woody come with us. He didn't figure we'd be at the show until 7pm that night. Poor soul. I didn't figure it either. Our first run was Jumpers and we got a Q and 1st place easily. Shane didn't knock one bar!!!

Starters Jumpers 1st Place with a Q

Our next run was Tunnelers and Shane went in one wrong tunnel but he had a great time. The next runs, Touch and Go, Chances, and Regular 1 and 2, were all E's because I made Shane do the dog walk contacts again and again. Still hasn't sunk in. The only reason to celebrate is that we now have a Start line. It's a small one, but it's something. Shane used to bolt when I took the leash off, and now he stands still and lets me step out one step. It's a miracle.

Lesson. If you are over 50, DO NOT eat ribs and drink red wine right before you go to bed, especially if you have a slight allergy to red wine. We stopped at Rudy's on the way home and it was very late. Also, the fabulous mile-high chocolate cake that Susan made for Margaret's birthday, was churning around in there too (I'm highly caffeine sensitive). Had a pretty rough night and we had to turn the clocks forward too!

Sunday, Regular 1 and 2 are first up and again we E because of the dog walk training. Still no contact. No more dog walks the rest of the day. I was tied for 1st place in the Most Eliminations category, but eventually lost. I'm too competitive to purposely blow the other runs. Oh well. Chances, we knocked a bar. Jumpers, more knocked bars. Tunnelers, missed an entrance and got 2nd place and a Q. Weavers, 1st place and a Q. A full 10 seconds faster than the 2nd place dog.

Had a really good time with the people at the show. So many compliments. One gate steward said the nicest thing that we had amazing distance for a novice dog. I can't take any credit for that, however, I just can't keep up with him and NADAC courses are so spread out that Shane doesn't have too many other choices to make. Anyhoo, it was a nice compliment and made me feel pretty good.
