F.A.S.T.

Well, apparently, FAST is the only thing we are good at. 2nd place on Saturday and 1st place on Sunday. The bonus on Saturday was an Aframe, 12 weaves, and a tunnel. Sunday it was a jump, teeter, and a tunnel. Shane got his contacts and stayed on the teeter. Unbelievable. This boy does not like me to be too close to him. Lesson learned.
Got Shane's final measurement Saturday. The AKC rep saw how shy he was and treated him very well. We had a little fun on the table, and then she had me wait a bit so he wouldn't associate the table with something bad. The second time, he stood tall and proud. 15 inches.

Saturday Open JWW, we blew the three 270s badly. Thought I was in position, but apparently not. Also knocked a bunch of bars. I'm certain now that I was too close to him. We now have a serious issue with the table. I had to carry him off. He will not stay on the table and keeps jumping off and on. I had been feeding him his dinner on the table. Fed him sardines on the table. When we got home, he ran out the back door and got on the table. I could kill him. Especially since he got his dog walk contact!
I do know how to stay on the table! Mom just has to figure out why I won't do it at a show. I really enjoy messing with her head.

Sunday was a repeat of Saturday. I think we left one bar standing in Open JWW. Also, he lunged at two border collies, so now we are also evil. Getting the nicest of glares as we walk around. Interesting how fast news travels. So I'm back to the beginning with his desensitization training. I waited all weekend to be banned from AKC forever. This is all supposed to be fun, right? Susan M. gave me the best analysis. She said Shane was handler focused and not obstacle focused, making me realize that I was too close to him. I walked the course like he was Woody, perhaps subconsciously wishing he was my passive, slow Woody. Oh well. Much to do.

When we got home Sunday, Woody greeted me like I'd been gone for months. We played and wrestled in the backyard, as all the negativity of the weekend dissipated into the cosmos. Shane made sure I saw his contacts and table performance before we went inside. Frank's pasta sauce and the red wine helped a bit as well.
