I Dreamed a Dream

Three day AKC trial. Only Maggie May. Shane is along for support.

Friday
Q in all three runs. Open FAST is first. Teeter and jump in the send. Nailed it. Maggie May puts the teeter issue to rest. Open JWW is a breeze. Nov STD done. Bring it.

Saturday
Open FAST. Nailed the send. Bell in the other ring goes off while Maggie is in the weaves and spooked her right out of the poles. Not enough points, but the send was magnificent. Open JWW is a breeze again. Nov STD done. Title.

Sunday
Open JWW. Yawn. Moved to Open STD. Mistake. Did the tunnel three times. Popped out of the weaves, but she did everything else. I'm thinking she was guarding her chewies all night and didn't sleep. New Rule: no chewies the night before a trial.

So I moved her to EXC A JWW for the next trial. Not sure if we are ready, but I'm tired of getting Q's for no reason. She hasn't even been trialing for a year and we are in Excellent. This is the path I had imagined for Shane, but it was not to be.

What a wonderful weekend. I had forgotten how much fun I can have at an agility trial. Instead of crating by the door and cowering in shame and fear, I crated with friends, worked the rings, and had a ball. I love Shane to bits, but the stress of trying to run him was just too much. We'll see how he does at the next NADAC trial.
