Last Call

Many tests this week to see if Shane was prepared to jump 16 inches this weekend. I had such confidence when I mailed in the premium. We do jump chutes in the backyard at 16 inches. We've had a few good classes at 16 inches. Last weekend he jumped 12 inches and knocked some bars. Tried 14 inches at class Tuesday and failed. Chickened out Thursday at class and stayed at 12 inches. Today, did 16 inches in the backyard and I thought for a moment about going to the show and then remembered he'd have to jump a triple and decided to stay home.

I watched a few videos of Jake and Woody today and saw how high they jumped over that 16 inch bar and thought about how Shane struggles to clear the bar. He manages sometimes, but it isn't easy for him. I still do not understand why, but I will accept that he can't do it.
