I chickened out of going to the NADAC show this weekend. It was a long drive and if Shane misbehaved, it would be a long costly ride home. The stress of it all has taken a toll on my system and I'm positive I would not have coped well at all. I need to be 100 percent to deal with Shane. There are a lot of shows in April, so hopefully we'll be ready to try it again.

So instead of competing, we all went for a hike in the woods and it was a blast. The first day we didn't get too far as Maggie stepped on a few wasps. We rushed home to give her a Benadryl and ice her foot. Nothing phases her. The next day we did the entire hike and they still had energy. I set up our jumps in a circle and ran them both around until I got dizzy, but they were still hyped up. Maggie can jump higher than Shane so she was jumping over him. Quite the spectacle.
Maggie is a sniffer and she was higher than a kite on the hike. So many smells. I'm sure it brought her back to the time she was in the wild as a stray. Shane did a few prissy things, like jumping over the mud puddle instead of trekking through it. He would wait to see what I was going to do and then I had to coax him. Got to missing Jake and Woody, the desert trail dogs, who forged ahead pulling me along. We'll do some more hikes and maybe his confidence will grow.
A Fall Day
