A Good Week

It's brutally hot outside and it's hard to keep the dogs occupied indoors. I'm going to go broke from the chewies, as they don't seem to like the cheap ones. Yesterday I spent $21 on 6 chewies and they are gone already.

Monday, I started to train Maggie. She already knows how to sit, but down is a little harder. We also started on Leave It. She got it right away. She's smarter than I gave her credit for. Put her in my lap for hugs and there is a blood stain on my leg. Maggie is in heat. My first. Since she is getting spayed in a few months, I decided to forgo buying diapers, panties, and such. Seeing how she has already stained three pairs of pants, not sure my decision was a good one.

Tuesday I started to doubt putting Shane into 3 agility classes and 1 behavior class per week. He's fine, but I'm pooped. Tuesday morning, Jane used Shane as a demo dog. He stayed right by my side off leash while she talked. He did the exercise and stayed with me. I was so very proud. Finally tears of joy on the way home. Tuesday night at behavior class, Shane was promoted to the next level. It was a good day.

Wednesday night Shane took the triple, which was the last obstacle and aimed right at two border collies, and turned right into me without running off. Kim commented that Shane seems so much calmer. I think Maggie has had a tremendous impact on him. They play pretty rough, but they are both smiling the entire time, so I think it's OK.

Thursday, we had two perfect FAST runs. The exhilaration I feel when it all comes together is so intoxicating. I was on a high all day. I guess he does deserve the expensive chewies.

Sunday morning watching Fareed Zakaria.
All my favorite guys and gals in one place.

Maggie loves the furry pillow on our bed.
