I'm home from an agility show and I'm smiling. No Q's this weekend, but we made such major leaps in our showing. We had one run on Friday, just to get our feet wet. Shane made all his contacts. I just couldn't believe it. He actually waited on the teeter. We knocked some bars and he still has his table issue. But that's another day. The other major accomplishment was just walking around the arena without incident. Our new training techniques are paying off. Shane is a new man.
Saturday we had another Standard run that went well. Knocked some bars and table issues. Steeplechase was good as well. Again knocked bars. I attributed it all to his fat butt. I tried to get his final measurement but he was so freaked out by the male judge that he wouldn't stand up. I'll have to wait for a female judge I guess. Our final run was Snooker and Shane knocked the first bar. I tried to get his head to run back to grab another red jump, but I slipped on the knocked bar and landed on it with my knee. The pain was severe so I limped out of the ring in shame. Poor Shane.
Sunday I decided not to feed Shane his breakfast and wouldn't you know it, he didn't knock bars in our runs. Hmmm. Guess a belly full of kibble puts our Shaney into lounging mode. We had more great runs today. Shane made his contacts and kept the bars up. I made a few mistakes, but Shane did great. I'm really looking forward to the next show. I love this feeling.
