Glorious

I can think of no better word to describe this past weekend. On Wednesday, I started Shane on his Shen Calmer herbs in preparation for the show. Friday afternoon I set up our stuff at the show and carried Shane over to the standard ring to watch some dogs run. Luckily, very noisy fast dogs were running. The teeter would bang and Shane's ears would perk up. We sat there for a while, and then I braved walking around with him. He did great. We walked up and down the length of the crating area and Shane did not lunge at any crates. We headed home after about an hour.

More herbs.

Saturday, our first run was Open Jumpers. I had planned on scratching, but decided to give it a go. Shane ran around the triple as I expected, but got the double!! Spent the time between runs walking him around and he did great. Our standard run was messy, but we got a 1st place! Now we just need one more Q for our title.

More herbs.

Sunday, our Open Jumpers run was same same. He ran around the triple, but I brought him around to try it again. He knocked the last bar, but at least he didn't belly flop. Novice Standard was good up until the table. The judge was a huge man and the table was between him and the tall boy standing on the chute fabric. Shane just would not sit. We went on.

All in all, a pretty glorious weekend. Only one blue ribbon, but the best part was that I got to walk around the arena with Shane and not feel like a terrible person because he lunges at crates and other dogs. He was absolutely fabulous and I feel like we've made significant progress.
