Please Please Me

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

Left for Kerrville late Friday. Drive was unremarkable. Lots of roadkill. La Quinta is pretty funky. WiFi doesn't work. Watched Bill Mahr. Can't sleep. Going to be a great weekend.

At least there is a Starbucks in Kerrville. Need that caffeine after a sleepless night. First run of the day is Advanced Gamblers. We were flawless. Send out to the tunnel, two jumps after. Knocked a bar. Drat. Next was Starters Standard. I decided to keep Shane on the table until the buzzer. Told the judge we are planted. "If that's what you want." Yes, unfortunately. Someone told me to get down on his level and ask him to perform. Please. Please go down on the table. Lucky for me a photographer captured my torture.

Me. Please. Please go down on the table.
Shane. You disgust me.

Well, that didn't work. Shane isn't even looking at me. Off I go in shame. What shall I try next? On to Steeplechase. Knocked a bunch of bars and a wrong course, but he ran like the wind. Ended the day in Advanced Pairs - 1st and Q. Thank you Shooter and Shawn!

Drove around Kerrville for a bit. Found some lovely places. Grabbed dinner at HEB and headed back to our funky room for a movie. Watched Under the Tuscan Sun for the bazillionith time transporting me back to Italy and out of that room. Trouble sleeping again. Can't do feather pillows.

Sunday. Here we go again. Starters Standard. Must try something different. This time I pretended I had treats in my hand. I use the word "treats" to get Shane into the house, so he knows that word.
Me. I got treats!
Shane. Hmm. I'll look at you now.

I get him to sit! YES! I tell the judge, "I'm taking it" and on we go. Got the dog walk contact, but didn't stop. Whatever. I'll work on that next time. We sail through the rest of the course. Starters Snooker. Already have that title. Forgot to move up. Shane makes up his own course. Jumps off the teeter and gets back on. Drat. Judge gets in my face. I know we are done. Let him finish the damn teeter. Yes! He does the teeter and off we go. I think that judge is sick of me. Finish the day in Starters Jumpers. Too close to Shane. He runs around a bunch of jumps. I'm pooped. Should have scratched.

Only one Q this weekend, but we had a really good time. Small show. Lots of friendly people. Saw a lot of people working on specific things in the ring, so I am not alone. More good tips from people on what to do with my table problem, so more things to try.
