F.A.S.T.er

New Title: OPEN FAST
Only took three runs to get our Open FAST title!

Left for Pearland late Friday afternoon. Driving along 71 the wildflowers just took my breath away. Blue, orange, and pink bursts of color all along the way. Arrived too late to set up my stuff, so headed for the hotel. The La Quinta in Pearland is a palace compared to the one we stayed in last weekend in College Station. Modern bedding, flat panel wall mounted TV, simulated granite counter tops. Gorgeous. Starbucks nearby. I'm set.

Saturday was same same. Novice STD first. Shane wouldn't go down on the table. Kept looking over his shoulder at the horses. Jumped off teeter. Knocked some bars. No dogwalk contact. Same same. Had a very long wait until Open Jumpers. Knocked a bunch of bars, but had a good time. Finally, Open FAST. This is Shane's specialty. We easily finish. Skipped the teeter at 10 points, so we ended up 2nd with a Q. That is Shane's title and now we can enter Excellent FAST.

I have a bad habit of building up my hopes and expectations to an unrealistic level, which ultimately ends in disappointment. I had visions of Shane being in Excellent and Masters at his 2nd birthday, and here I am trying to get a Table performance. So now he is in Excellent FAST, which does fulfill the dream, but not in quite the way I had envisioned. I think I'll stay in Open FAST for a bit and use it for practice.

Sunday started with Open JWW, and we did pretty good. I'm glad the triple counts as one bar. Shane seems to do a cannonball. Knocked some bars, but I tried some moves, that worked. Felt pretty good. In Novice STD, Shane got the teeter!!!! Got on the table, but wouldn't sit.

The cutie-pies sitting next to us all weekend.

We spent a lot of time walking around the area getting adjusted to the noise and movements. Two people complimented Shane. I guess I don't know enough about Shelties to see the difference. They asked me where I got him, and when I mentioned his dad had Triune lines, they nodded. They could see it. I know when we get our act together, we'll be awesome.
