Well, against my better judgement, we went to Pearland this past weekend for Shane's first show. With all the fuss with Jake, we hadn't practiced all week. I was not optimistic.
The first run of the day was STD and Shane got himself tangled in the chute. It was a pretty crazy run as Shane was way overstimulated. We had absolutely no start line. I removed the leash and he just took off. Next was JWW, and Shane got 3rd place! Again, no start line and we had one bobble on the course. The camera malfunctioned, so we have no video of Shane's first ribbon. Oh well.... Last run of the day was FAST and Shane got 2nd place. It was perfect for him because we just went wild, which was his mode for the day.
Woody did well, finishing his Open Preferred STD title despite having sex on the chute. He came out of the chute, turned around and started rubbing himself all over the chute fabric. I managed to snap him out of it and he was clearly in a trance. Messed up JWW when I tried a rear cross and he wasn't having it. It was hot and humid, and Woody has gotten used to running at Triple Crown in the A/C. We were staying close to NASA, but didn't get a chance to see anything. Had dinner at Ninfa's, which I remember hearing about in the late 70's when I was first discovering how to cook. It might have been great back then, but not now, or maybe it was just the original that was great. Wouldn't return to this one. Starbucks was within walking distance of the hotel, so this was a great location for us.
Sunday started well. Shane got another 2nd place in FAST. We had a 2nd place in JWW until Shane decided he didn't want to stop doing the course. I just couldn't catch him until I figured out to get down on my knee. Last run of the day was STD, and he jumped off the teeter too soon. Oh well. Actually, not too bad for his first show.
Woody got zip on Sunday. He had sex in the chute this time. I had to open the fabric to snap him out of it. He was rolling around in there rubbing against the fabric. So gross. Frank was in sight during JWW and Woody stopped to pose for the camera. What a ham. I am really proud of our little boy accomplishing 3 legs in his first show. We have a lot of work to do before the next one.

Wow - how awesome. He is quite the competitor. You are going to have SO much fun with him. Watching the two of you (and hearing Frank laugh) was so enjoyable. Poor Woody - sometimes you just gotta take care of business.
